ScubaBound™ScubaBound™ is a Youth Visions™ leadership program that uses the discipline of diving to instill leadership skills in young people. The unique principle of our mission is that we are, first and foremost, a leadership training program. ScubaBound is an intense program that stresses discipline, hard work, and study, the bedrocks of sound judgment. In addition to enhanced leadership skills, students who complete the ScubaBound program will be familiar with the skills and information necessary to acquire a PADI Open Water scuba certification.

ScubaBound™ is for youths ages 10-18 for snorkeling (14-18 for scuba) who have medical clearance and swimming proficiency. Once students are ready to move on to scuba, PADI Open Water standards are incorporated into the lessons.

In developing the ScubaBound™ program, we believe skills and conditioning requirements should be intense. Since judgment is an aggregate of experience and training, we also believe skill repetition and experienced supervision are necessary to diminish the precipitous actions associated with youth. Therefore, we require more iterations and technical detail than the standard adult program.

Lesson plans are designed to teach responsibility, discipline, accountability and competence; to inspire young people to reach introspectively to find or create a way to succeed academically, physically and socially. In addition to the skills included in lesson plans, ScubaBound students also learn how to plan a dive; manage their equipment; safely enter and exit the water; control breathing and buoyancy; clear and recover their mask; and perform a variety of other safety procedures.

We believe class size is important. Therefore, ScubaBound™ classes have no more than ten students. As a result of small class sizes, students receive the individual attention they need to successfully complete the course. Parents are welcome to observe classes at any time.

The culmination of the ScubaBound™ program is a practicum, a dive trip in which students apply their new skills and techniques in an open water environment. Once students have mastered skills and theory, and completed the PADI Open Water Diver course, they are PADI certified and will be recognized as competent open water divers by most dive organizations in the world.
